I apprecaite I am quite literally talking to myself at present (I am the only member here as it stands, the forum has been live for all of 3 minutes!).
Thought I'd start a post to discuss anything draft related, I have a countdown going and quite literally cannot wait for it to start next Thursday!
Ok so I wanted to just throw this out there because my life is in ruins due to how much fun I have looking at draft prospects:
If we get into rd 5-6 and are looking for a CB with potential I think Kameron Kelly from SDSU is a legit option.
Pros:
- Measurements extremely close to Sherman.
- Positions on his receivers really well.
- Capitalizes on opportunities to punish bad passes and routes.
- Has a great sense of where the play is at all times.
Cons:
- Some of the worst tackling ever observed by man. (He's always there in run support... but he just doesn't /always/ hit the tackle xD)
- Gets absolutely dominated when he's blocked. (He's always there in run support... but /sometimes/ he just gets tossed aside by a blocker)
Tackling is the deficiency I trust the Seahawks to fix the most out of everything.
Somebody get this assessment to John Schneider immediately.
Rashaad Penny - I thought the pick was way too early for him. Apparently an undisclosed team (Probably the Patriots given their pick of Sony Michel) called Schneider to trade for him after the pick was made. Maybe it wasn't too early. I felt like we could have traded back a couple times and still got him. The way I'm looking at it now though is this:
Penny is a monster talent with insane production and as many yards after contact as Barkley had period. There's different levels of competition there for sure, but that is still a gigantic statement to Penny's abilities. Penny has the potential to come out as the draft's best RB. We're lucky to come out of the draft with a player like this, even if I did feel it was a little early. I don't think interior line depth will last until we pick in Rd 3 but we'll see how they handle the rest of the draft. I'm staying excited, and it's awesome to have Penny!
Yeah most of them are have almost no effort whatsoever put into them do they!
Man I love Mock Drafts because of all the excitement of what could be and how other people see it... but MAN most are boring for Seahawks fans. Almost nobody ever has us trading back, the most certain of the 2018 draft's uncertainties! Even a Seahawks reporter for Chat sports..
Yeah Bradley Chubb would be fantastic, he's going top 10 for sure though.
Not that we need defense first but I would love to have Bradley Chubb.
He has a great motor and seems all over every play near the line.
Exciting times ahead, I love the draft!
I agree! I think we should trade out of the first round, even if it involves two trade downs. There's just too much value in rds 2 and 3, as you said. Pro Bowlers will be found!!
Good breakdown Dustin, as you say...some of them HAVE to fall!
Even if Earl is traded and we get say a 2nd and a 3rd as compensation I'd still be well on board with trading out of the 1st all together.
I'd say the sweet spot in this draft is from #30-#60 so you could very easily find a player with the same grade at #40 as you could at the end of the 1st round, good value!
Next Thursday, Yikes!!! It's comin' up!
I feel like 18 probably won't be traded until draft day, at the time of the pick. I think who we trade with will really depend on that moment. I think there's too many people expected to be top 15 picks, and those being shoved up there for a very high target to not fall to Seattle. I think 18 will be pretty valuable as a result. Here's how I look at it: Those who are likely to go before Seattle picks listed below.
QBs (6):
Sam Darnold
Josh Allen
Josh Rosen
Baker Mayfield
Lamar Jackson
Mason Rudolph (Maybe)
LBs (4):
Roquan Smith
Tremaine Edmunds
Rashaan Evans
Leighton Vander Esch
Safeties (2):
Minkah Fitzpatrick
Derwinn James
O-line (2):
Quenton Nelson
Mike McGlinchey
D-Line (6):
Bradley Chubb
Harold Landry
Vita Vea
Da'Ron Payne (Maybe)
Arden Key (Maybe)
Marcus Davenport
CBs (2):
Denzel Ward
One of Josh Jackson/Isiah Oliver/Jaire Alexander
RBs (2):
Saquon Barkley
Derrius Guice
WRs (2):
Calvin Ridley
One of Courtland Sutton/DJ Moore
But.. Dustin! That's like 23-26 players that are supposed to be picked before 18!
My response:
I agree. We need more picks. Also, it will be more difficult to use our cap space money when we have to sign a #18 pick
Welcome enboeh! You are the first ever poster on here :)
Personally, I'd like one of these to happen -
Trade down from #18 to to #22-#24, hopefully picking up a late 3rd, then trading that first to Cleveland and a later round pick for #35 + #64.
OR...
Trade #18 to Cleveland for #33 (the very valuable first pick on day 2) + #64 + #114 (4th rounder).
Hello!
So... what would be the best tarde down move?
