Seahawks Resign S Bradley McDougald

Some good news today after a rough few days. The Seahawks have successfully negotiated a contract with safety Bradley McDougald.

The contract is for 3 years and worth $13.95M ($4,650,000 average per year). I will break it down further once I see the full breakdown (bonuses, guarantees etc).

It’s safe to assume that this is the nail in the coffin for any glimmer of hope that Kam Chancellor will return to the field next season, I highly suspect McDougald will be starting at strong safety for the foreseeable.

I guess there’s a chance this increases the Earl Thomas trade rumours as McDougald can also play free safety (and did very well there for the 2 games he played in 2017), however this is still pretty unlikely in my opinion.

I must say I thought other teams would have shown real interest in McDougald as he is solid at two positions on defense and flexibility is a huge selling point in the NFL. McDougald obviously wanted to be here, though. His contract was signed just a short while before the tampering period of free agency begins. I had him pegged at $5-6M per year so his $4.65M isn’t far off at all.
